South African motor racing was given a long overdue shot in the arm last month when the world class Kyalami Race track hosted the A1GP for the first time. Long discarded as a preferred international venue for the really big league of motor racing, Formula One, Kyalami proved to both its detractors and supporters that it is indeed ready to host the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen and the rest of the F1 racing daredevils. Formula D, also known as Formula Drift or Formula Drifting, is a hot motor sport whose popularity in Japan penetrated the U.S. Formula D is not your average car sport. What's different about this sport is that there isn't an emphasis on racing to get to that finish line, Formula D is something else. Haryana has approved a plan to set up a motor sports city spread over an area of 1600-1700 acres in Mewat district, in the vicinity of Gurgaon The Haryana Investment Promotion Board on Tuesday approved in principal the proposal of a private developer to develop Gurgaon Motor Sports City near Sohna, in district Mewat, with an investment of Rs 2000 crore. The project also envisages future investment of Rs 6000 crore. It was also decided that acquisition of land for the project will be done as per the state's policy for special economic zones (SEZ) under which the developer will have to acquire 75% of the land. The project will have a race track and ancillary facilities like hotel, entertainment parks and golf course. The 24 Hour LeMans is one of the largest and most famous endurance sports car races in the world. It is also one of the oldest that is still operating. The idea of an around the clock drive was conceived as a test of the reliability and endurance of man and machine to maintain a continuous high speed for twenty-four hours over a challenging course. It is an annual event held near LeMans in France. While accidents are common at motor races, none have equalled the horrific incident that occurred at the 1955 event. Being an homebody I had never given much thought to outdoor sports, especially motor sports. This all changed however when I met someone who introduced me to the world of motor sport and showed me just how much fun and competitive they could be. As someone who would still be considered green by most others’ standards, my knowledge of racing something like a Sand Rail or Yamaha Rhino has dramatically increased in a short time.
Once I was introduced to racing of all sorts I immediately began spending time with my new friend out at various races. I think it may have been this that helped me become familiar with things so quickly and I believe this also helped the sport make a much larger impression on me that it would have had I not attended so many races. Audi is one of the best known supercars.
Over the years, Audi has been actively involved in motor sports. The participation of Audi into motor sports dates back to 1930's with their former company the Auto Union. The Audis dominated the Touring and Super Touring categories of motor racing in the 1990's.
The four wheel drive Quattro, launched by the company in 1980 was successful in winning rallies and races worldwide. The Quattro is one of the first cars to make use of the new rules of rally racing then, which allowed the use of four-wheel drives for racing. However, the critics saw the four-wheel races as too heavy and difficult. The Quattro gained significant success in the World Rally Championship winning the 1983 (Hannu Mikkola} and the 1984 {Stig Bolmquist) drivers titles. The Formula One world championship season has ended for the season, leaving many Brits a little disappointed. Everything was looking good for racing prodigy Lewis Hamilton, who at the tender age of 22 looked as though he had the world title in the bag.
However, things weren't to be; in the final race in Brazil, it all went wrong for Hamilton who suffered from mechanical problems with his car and finished 8th in the race, meaning he was just beaten to being crowned the youngest ever F1 champion.

Responsibility of taking care and maintaining your motor sport vehicle usually belongs to you the owner. So your ready for a fun weekend ahead and you find that there is a small puddle of oil underneath the engine compartment of your dirt bike, utility vehicle, off road go kart, atv, motorcycle or motor scooter. It was a powerful marketing tool for automotive manufacturers as the one with a winning car could expect dramatic increases in sales. Later, however, another form of motor sport developed, the endurance race. It differed from earlier events in that it was designed to test not just speed, but also the dependability of the machine.
