The eagerly-awaited Rugby World Cup kicks off on Friday, 7th September when hosts France take on fast-improving Argentina at the Stade de France in Paris. The mood in France is that they are hoping to repeat the surprise win that their football cousins managed at the soccer World Cup in 1998. But, win or lose, the French are working very hard to ensure that all visiting rugby fans will be made warmly welcome as they aim to impress with their tournament organisation and general hospitality.
Defending world champions England will be hoping to put recent dismal performances behind them and turn on the style for the competition which sees them in a qualifying pool pitted against Samoa, Tonga, USA and the mighty South Africa. However, the bookies think the team doesn’t have a hope quoting England at 28-1 to repeat their 2003 triumph and making them sixth favourites for the trophy. ...

Winter games usually revolve around things like snow and ice, but when it comes to a skating or hockey rink, fun can be had year round. To get in on the action, non pro teams will have to schedule time on the ice. These allotted sessions, known as "ice time" can be doled out a number of ways.
Determining "ice time" will depend largely on the hockey arena and their policies. For example, while some ice rinks specialize only in hokey, others may allow figure skaters time on the ice. In a rink that splits their activities this way, ice time may be divided into the particular sports or training sessions. For example, early morning hours may be dedicated to skaters with evening and afternoons going towards hockey players.
Rinks that are open to the public are often structured this way and one may have to call to get a coveted time ...

A Rugby union match of Guinness Premiership had taken place at Adams Park on 22 February at daytime 3:00 pm between Northampton and Wasps. Wasps had been doing hard work for many days to get dominance over Northampton. They had made two changes at their side to come up with strong stand up team to face Northampton in that match. Rob Webber replaced Joe Ward. Some replacements were also done to bring positive livescores. Finally after forceful fight, Wasps got victory over Northampton with 9-5 lead. A forceful striker, Danny Cipriani, who omitted from England's RBS 6 Nations side, kicked the three penalties which helped Wasps to earn a Guinness Premiership victory over Northampton. But Danny Cipriani seemed eclipsed by the exciting young player of Northampton who managed to score only in one try in the match. Another player Foded came in place of Johnson took pass from Stephen to ...

Well the new Stade Francais’s rugby kit is causing a stir! Made by Adidas, it is covered in repeat block colour images of Blanche de Castille, France’s thirteenth century ruler, complete with crown. The design is clearly reminiscent of Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe prints. Personally I quite like it, not sure it’ll look quite the same filled with a large French rugby player, but as a garment it works. The colours and design are strong and eye-catching. The contrast darker sleeves and side panels help to counteract the bright colour blocks and slim the figure and tone down the overall appearance of the garment so that it isn’t quite so garish. It certainly opens up a whole new area of sportswear design for those of us who have had the task of trying to come up with a new way of introducing team colours in various panels, piping ...

First up is Chiefs RB Jamal Charles (whom the Draftsharks.com staff affectionately named “J-Chaz” last year). Charles was – surprisingly – the top fantasy football RB from Weeks 14-17 last year. But Charles started his barrage well before Week 14. He took over for a suspended-and-soon-to-be-released Larry Johnson in Week 9 and didn’t look back. Charles scored in 7 of his final 9 games and topped 100 yards in 6 of those contests. He averaged 5.9 yards per carry behind the same offensive line that Johnson managed just 2.9 behind. K.C. might bring in a bigger back to handle short-yardage work, but J-Chaz is a good bet for around 300 touches next season. Let’s see what the offseason brings, but don’t be shocked if Charles grades out as a first round talent in most 2010 fantasy football rankings. Next up is Browns RB Jerome Harrison. Although he racked up 152 ...

Hockey tickets are one of the most popular stocking stuffers of the holiday season. Once the snow starts to fall, it means that it's time to strap on the skates and hit the ice for some hockey, one of the most popular sports in the country.
Once Upon A Time In Canada
The actual beginnings of ice hockey have been traced back to the 17th century. But professional ice hockey as we know it today was started in Montreal, Canada in 1875. A number of students from McGill University officially codified the rules and the game caught on like wildfire. In just a few years, the first world championships were held and the oldest hockey rivalries were born. In 1893, the first Stanley Cup was awarded.
Though the National Hockey League would be active in both America and Canada, it was the latter country that seemed to have more of an affinity ...

Betting on sports is perhaps as old as the various games themselves. Millions of people have made huge money out of betting on sports. Possibly no game is left virgin of betting. All games have bookies and wages attached to them. Alike is the case with the countries across the globe. Betting is becoming a universal phenomenon nowadays. The difference however lies in the fact that some countries have accepted betting and so have legalized it while others still consider it illicit. For instance betting is taken to be legal nearly in entire Europe whereas Nevada is the only place in United States of America where wagering is deemed to be lawful. But the geographical scenario does not bring much variation in the terms and conditions or the rules and style of betting. The betting policies for a particular game for example cricket remain approximately the same around the world. ...
